Locations


The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification tests. Exam pages for each exam are available for additional guidelines, conditions and guidelines and exam material. If you require special accommodations due to chronic illness or visual or hearing impairment, please contact the exam provider directly and make sure to provide detailed documentation when you register.

Faculty may find their exam times by using the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. Additionally, the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for classes where an exam is required by NYSED regulations. Final exams for classes in the evening are scheduled during the regular class time of the final examination weeks.

Registration

The exam schedule is accessible online, and students are advised to consult it. However it is crucial to keep in mind that the final exam schedule could alter at any moment. Students should therefore consult their instructors for the correct date and time of their test. Students should also print the official list to take with them to their exam.

Students must also familiarize themselves with the rules and conditions of the exam in addition to the exam schedule. These can be found on the website for each exam. Students acknowledge having read and agree to the terms and conditions upon registration.

Exam sites try their best to accommodate students with special requirements. The nature and the extent of these needs should be noted on the registration and verified by a doctor's attestation. The locations for the exam must be able to respect confidentiality and keep it.

If students are scheduled to take three exams on the same day, they must contact their instructor or department to schedule a make-up test. Although it is possible to take three exams in a single day, it can result in high stress levels and could affect the quality of the test. The professor may not be able give an opportunity to take a makeup test on a different day.

Before taking the test, students must prepare by reviewing their study material and practice their German skills. The exam is a paper-based test which measures the ability to speak, read, and write in German. The examination results are presented on a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the test are awarded an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate certifies the attainment of the language level A1. This level corresponds to the first stage of the six-level scale of competence outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free. Students are required to bring an official government ID to the test. Those without a valid photo identification will be disqualified.

Fees

You will have to pay a fee for the examination for the opportunity to receive the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This is in addition to the course fee.

Practice tests allow you to get familiar with the format of the test, the language, and the difficulty of the questions on the test. They allow you to assess your understanding, find gaps and increase your chances of passing the exam.

Please note that the exam fee isn't refundable. Examination results can only be accessed via email and not by phone.
